Friday 5-29

Bella may be the smallest of the pups - but she is definitely the most energetic. She can run like the wind and loves to pick on her bigger siblings. In their little minds, absolutely nothing is off limits when they are out running around. After they were tired out last night I went into their area and just sat down with the last 5 and let them climb all over me and love me. Each and every one of them just loves to be the center of attention.

Tonight Carlisle goes home and the rest will be gone by tomorrow afternoon. We sure will miss them.

Thursday 5/28 Update

Wow - I cannot believe that by Saturday afternoon all my babies will be gone! In a way it will be nice to get back into a "normal" routine again - but I will miss there little faces, puppy dog kisses and even the puppy dog bites.

The mosquitoes are so awful at our house, that most of our playtime this week has been inside the pole barn. You'd be amazed how hard it is to keep track of 5 puppies all out playing together. This morning before I left for work we did several laps around the kennel area which they all though was great fun.

New Beginnings ....

I am sorry it has been so long between updates! I have been unexpectedly off of work since last Wednesday afternoon when I took all the little ones to the vet. They all passed their examinations with flying colors and not a single one cried when they received their shots.

This weekend 5 of the puppies went home with their new family. The five that are left with me are still keeping me on my toes. It turns out that they really do not need puppy toys, as scrub brushes and bungie cords are even more fun! No, I don't let them play with those things for any length of time, but it is funny how they keep finding them.

Today's pictures are all about goodbye's and happy beginnings.

May 20th Update

All is well with the 10 active .... very active puppies! Last night Dottie's parents came to visit for a little while. Between that and all the running around in the outdoor kennel, they were all tired out fairly early! My girlfriend and her daughter came over a little later in the evening and they couldn't believe how mellow they all were. 3 sleeping on top of each other in a carrier, one so tired he was sleeping with his head hanging over the bed and others just cuddled up here and there. Bella was awake, so she was the lucky one to get held and loved.

Dottie sleeps after her visit:

Edward doesn't mind his head hanging off the bed:

Jasper, Alice and Sadie all cuddle up in a carrier:

Rosalee loves adventure and carrying things in her mouth. She was running all over the pole barn with this scrub brush in her mouth. I wanted a picture of that, but this was all I could get while she took a break:

I filled up the wading pool outside in Hailey's kennel where they get to play periodically throughout the day. I was home alone, so shooting a video was a bit challenging. This is not the greatest and very short but it gives you a little idea. Esme is the one that is getting in the water, as I helped her get her butt over the edge. All of them were in for a short walk. We will do it again this evening if the mosquitos allow it. They are terrible at our house this year.

This afternoon we are off to the vet for their final checkup, worming and shots. Wish me luck!!

6 weeks old! May 18

Today the puppies are 6 weeks old and my daughter is 23 years old! Good thing I am not getting any older!!

We had fun with taking the puppies outside this weekend. We put them all in Hailey's kennel area and they had a blast playing in her dog house and spreading the straw all over the place. We also went for some walks in the woods in groups of 2 or 3. They loved that little taste of freedom, so now when they are in their kennel area all they want to do is howl and cry to get out and run around. 10 puppies can make a LOT of noise!

I also put two puppy carriers in their space last night without the doors so they can explore, sleep and get used to being inside one. I have to work on taking a picture as they like to get up as soon as I walk in the door.

All 10 were in the dog house sleeping until I showed up with the camera:

This is a bit shakey - the first time playing in the dog house area:

I fogot to mention earlier that Carlisle has a great new home. He will be local so we can see his progress once in a while and watch him grow.

TGIF! May 15 Update

My daughter picked up a new wading pool for the puppies today, so this weekend we will conduct their first swim lessons. :-) Or wading, at least. The weather will determine if it is an indoor or outdoor pool.

Thursday, May 14

As I sat in the kennel, all 10 puppies were climbing all over me and a few chewing on my crocks, I decided that they were ready for some Kong toys. Kong has some great puppy toys, so I picked up a couple of them and the puppies love chewing on them. Plus, they are easy to wash off quicky, rather than having to machine wash the cloth toys. They were such a hit, I will probably pick up a couple more today.

They are also enjoying their foood that is mostly ground up still with some whole chunks added in. Hailey is only in with them 3 or 4 times a day to nurse them and that will slowly decrease as the weaning process continues.

It is so much fun to enter the pole barn now, and all 10 run to the fence for their little piece of attention. As they grow older, my work increase, so the pictures some times tend to be fewer. I'll try to do better tonight as I know you all like to see your little ones grow.

Tuesday May 12

We had a quiet night without any visitors, so the puppies had a picnic outside. The teeth are really coming through now, so I am gradually adding more kibble. When Emmitt got ahold of his first hard food Sunday, he ran over to the newspaper with it so that he could enjoy it all alone.

Monday 5/11 - 5 weeks old today!

Boy, where did the weekend go?? We had a great time visiting with several families over the weekend and more choices were made. Dottie, Esme and Sadie have been chosen and so has Edward.

Due to unforseen circumstances, we now have a male puppy available if anyone is still interested. Carlisle (Dark Blue ribbon) is looking for a good home.

We took the puppies outside yesterday and we will continue to do this daily from now on, weather permitting. I should say, my daughters took them outside while I cleaned their area. They took most of these pictures, so I'm not really sure who is who in some of them. They all enjoyed it though!

Which one should we get? Esme was the winner ...

Alice enjoys the grass and a toy:

Hailey observes:

Going outside:

The grass feel great:

They are all doing very well and enjoying the new larger space they have to sleep and play in since we took the welping box out yesterday.

More pics from last night ....

I received the pictures from last night already ....

All tired out:

Big dogs meet the puppies ....

Hailey is still very protective of her babies - not to us human folk - but she doesn't much like the bigger dogs around them, so we have kept them outside. Last night we let Huntley, the dad in to see his babies. He could have cared less! He was more interested in checking out other things in the pole barn. We did get him to go over and say high for a quick picture though:

Then we brought in B'Nellie and she is very interested in them - probably because technically, she is still a puppy herself:

We had more visitors last night with their little kids. They took several pictures which I hope to get copies of and post here later on. My camera battery died unfortunatley.

Have a great weekend!
