The last one to go .......

Saturday night Katie hung out at the house to spend time with Hank and the dogs while we went to a surprise birthday party. She was the one to name him and has had a special bond with him. Here's a good picture she was able to get of all the dogs after tiring them out:



Sunday morning was a hard morning to see Hank (now Finnegan)leave. After some morning play time with the dogs, I gave him a bath and let him run around the house some more. I lost track of him at one point and found him upstairs settled in on one of the dog beds:



Then it was time to say goodbye. It was bittersweet, even for Jeff as he got a little attached to this one too. His new parents were so happy and so excited though, and that is what it is all about for us.

So the journey ends. It is nice to have had a few nights of complete rest and I am happy for all the new owner's and from all reports they are very happy too. I will post updates as I receive them.

Another one leaves, one left and an update!

Yesterday, Dash was picked up and he had a long ride in store for him back to Osh Kosh, Wisconsin. I thought about him all afternoon and evening wondering how the trip was going. I received an e-mail this morning saying that he did just fine and that he's been introduced to his new dog siblings and that went well too. Here he is with his new dad:



I also received an update on Molly yesterday along with some great pictures. She had her wellness check at the vet and is in perfect health and weighed in at 11 pounds. It sounds like she is very loved and she gets to take afternoon naps with her people. Here she is at her new home:









We now only have Hank left .... soon to become "Finnigan". He is having a ball in the house and tries his best to keep up with the big dogs. When he gets tired he'll find a place to plop down, but he doesn't want to miss anything either. So if I, or one of the dogs get up to do something he is right there following. He had his first night of crate training last night in the house, as I just didn't have the heart to leave him all alone out in the puppy kennel. He did very well .... although I'm sure he'd rather to have been in bed with us!! :-)

Hank and Dash

They've been having quite the time playing outside and inside the past few days. Last night they both got their first baths last night too. They did real well even thought they weren't real thrilled with the idea. They smell so good now! When I put them back out in their kennel last night they pretty much collapsed into two little balls.

My mom and dad always carry big sticks, so can I:

They found a yard toy to play with and it kept them busy for a long time:

Little Dash gets picked up at lunch time today. Poor Hank will be all by himself now. I wouldn't feel too bad for him though, he'll get plenty of attention!

The final two

First off a couple of family photos. This first one is Wilson - now OZZIE with his happy, happy family:



And I stole this picture of Maggie - now MOLLY with her new big brother. They look like perfect playmates to me:



I have to great babysitters at home; B'Nellie and Hailey. My new routine is to feed the puppies in the a.m. and let them eat while I get ready for work. I then let the puppies outside to run around with the big dogs and then into the house where B'Nellie and Hailey play and play and play with them. They are up and down the steps, under the bed, on the dog beds, and the favorite spot is under the dining room table where the bigger dogs cannot get them. It is so cute to watch them run and hear there little pants. After about 30 minutes of this play time they are ready to take a little nap as I head off to work.

Saying goodbye ....

Friday afternoon little Maggie was swept away to her new forever home. She had a little alone time with Mom before they picked her up and I'm sure she is doing very well with her new family:



Saturday morning we went for a little romp in the woods in between pick up times. Here is Wagner and Hank (look how happy he seems):

Wilson was picked up next, and I forgot to take a family photo. Darn headcold! I've received news that he is doing very well though, and totally taken over the household.

Carl was the next one choosen and I've received some pictures of his car ride home as well as at his new home:






Wagner was then the last to go for the weekend, and once again, I forgot to take a family photo. So, I am hoping they send me one.

Dash and Hank are a little out of sorts without all their siblings around them. We've been having them in the house as much as we can and they have totally mastered the steps, both up and down. B'Nellie just wants to play with them and doesn't realize how much bigger she is than they are, so when she gets too rough, Hailey takes care of things. I'll be taking pictures of the them and posting them later this week.

Play, Play, Play ......

The pheasant wings were a huge hit again the other night, but they are now in the garbage - yuk! It is fun to watch those little noses work and look for them. We've been spending some time in the house too, usually one or two puppies at a time. Hailey won't let them nurse anymore, but she has fun playing with them.

So, I figured I might as well take a little video instead:


I can't believe 4 of them are leaving this Saturday. They are getting to be a handful, that is for sure, but I'll still miss them all the same.

Busy, busy weekend and adventures .....

This weekend was very busy - for us humans and the puppies as well. We had our first little jaunt through the woods which is always fun. They bound and jump and find all sorts of thing to explore. Sometimes all in different directions too.

They also got to play with a pheasant wing. Boy - do they like that! Wagner took it into the crate to try and keep it from the others. Wilson laid on top of it at one point to protect it. Their noses sure know what to do!

We also had kids and families over to play with them and help tire them out. And then yesterday was the first car ride over to see the vet and get their first booster shots.

Wilson and Carl tied for biggest at 11 pounds 4 ounces. Maggie was the smallest (barely) at 9 pounds 6 ounces. Here are a few photos of our adventures.

Busy, busy puppies!

I had very good intentions of going for a run after work last night, but the puppies wanted to play, so it didn't take much to get me to stay and play with them. First it was outdoor time in the grass while I cleaned up their kennel area. When they all came back inside, Maggie would not stop crying even while I held her, so I brought her in the house and she had some alone time with mom and that seemed to make her happy. Hailey wouldn't let her nurse, but did let her climb on her.

After that, Dash and Carl came in the house for some play time with mom and investigating things - like the steps. They are very curious. Unfortunately my camera was outside.

Then, it was time for playing in mom's kennel. Wilson and Wagner were sound asleep, so they missed out on this first adventure.

6 weeks old

Where does the time go? Now I have to start weening the pups from Hailey. She is down to one meal a day and no more cheeseburgers!! McDonald's will probably have to lay off someone. :-) After taking out the whelping box, I put a small crate in the play area so they can get used to being in one, falling asleep in one, and just having fun with it. If nothing else, it is fun to chew on. This evening I plan on putting them in Hailey's large outdoor kennel with the straw and dog house. That is usually a big hit with the puppies. I just have to make sure that there aren't too many mosquitos out first.
