Individual photos

Not much new to report in puppy land. We will be stressing them each night until Wednesday night. I put them all into a laundry basket to carry them all and they are getting quite heavy! A couple of the boys have hit the 2+ pound mark. While they were all on the floor seperated I tried to get some individual photos, some are better than others, but they are all pretty cute!

I expect to start seeing some eyes any day now.

A week old already .....

And some are darn near double in size .... or so it seems. None of the boys are at the 2# mark yet, but it won't be long. I think they are competing with each other as they are all pretty comparable in size.

Last night I started the stressing process. This is putting them on the cool kitchen floor for 5 minutes, totally seperated from each other and mom is not around either. Then onto warm towels for another 5 minutes. This is to teach them independence, therefore eliminating an Alpha, plus it teaches them to adjust to different surroundings easily. That is the theory anyway! This is done for 5-7 days in a row.

Then we all had our nails cut for the first time. Much easier to do without mom hanging around.

Not much to report other than they are getting bigger by the day! I weigh them every night and replace the ribbons that are getting too tight. They all have fat little bellies and keep their momma busy.

Feeding time! They all act like they are starving except for the little boy with the red ribbon. He is contect just laying in between mom's front legs.

Shorter tails.....

The trip to the vet went smoothly. All 10 bundled on a flannel blanket in a carrier works wonderfully. B'Nellie whimpered the whole time because when her babies cry, she cries. While out walking B'Nellie however, I started to suspect that she had a bladder or urinary tract infection, so we are on antibiotics and she is already acting much more relaxed.

I have names for them all, but have not assigned them to a particular puppy yet. Those that know me, know that I love to have a glass of wine - Riesling being my favorite, so we decided to go with an alcohol based theme. No, we are not big drinkers, but we do like to have fun with the naming process....

Girls: Riesling, Merlot, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Moscato and Sangria
Boys: Bourbon, Bacardi, Belvedere and Jäger

As always the new owner's are free to pick their own loving names.

First Puppy Pictures!!

All of the females puppies have been placed, but I am still trying to contact some of the names on the male side, so if you have not heard from me yet, please be patient. 6 girls and 4 boys!!

The first puppy arrived at 6:06 p.m. on October 21 .... my birthday! What a wonderful gift B'Nellie gave me. They first two were boys and came relatively quickly and they were big - almost a pound each. I was thinking if they are all that size, no wonder she was so big!! There were a few smaller ones too averaging around 13.6 ounces.

They are all doing well and we go to the vet this afternoon to have the tails docked and the dew claws removed. Luckily it is a beautiful day, so B'Nellie and I can take a long walk while that is being taken care of.

Puppy announcement!

B'Nellie gave me a birthday present to treasure last night. 10 healthy puppies!! Pictures to follow on Monday and I will be contacting those on my waiting list later today after I get some sleep. They are adorable little cows.

Any day now ......

Ms B'Nellie is getting mighty uncomfortable these days and often needs to go outside. When I am around, she hardly lets me get out of her sight and loves to lay on the cool grass ..... or the bathroom floor .....



Tonight I will start taking her temperature to try and narrow down when she'll be going into labor.

Today I received an update about one of Hailey's pups from her last litter. Little Rookie is getting to be quite the bird hunter at only 5 months of age .... and when he isn't hunting he is hanging out with (or should I say) above his big brother Gunner ....

12 more days

This picture was actually taken early last week with about 2 1/2 weeks to go. So, as you may be able to imagine, she is even larger now and I don't think she'll be getting on my lap any more. She is very content to stay close to me, eagerly eats her vitamins in the morning and still has a good appetite. Only about 12 more days to go!!



This past weekend while up north we were able to meet up with the owner of Finnegan. He brought him out to see us, which was extremely nice of him to do. Finnegan is just beautiful and has his mom's silly personality and crazy hair ....


The father of all these pups, Huntley, thinks he is still something .... I mean just look at the stick he expects someone to throw for him!
