And the winner is......

Chip took the dog world by surprise with a 4-point Major at his very first dog show!    You could not get me to stop grinning as this boy was put up front.   Could not be more proud of him.    Sunday he took reserve dog which is still quite an honor for a 10 month old puppy!
Rizzo did not fare as well.....come to find out she wasn't feeling all that well and ended up spending the night at the animal hospital with what we thought may have been a blockage.   Good news is that she finally passed everything without surgery and is back to her crazy self again!
This past Saturday we got together with a friend and her Griff, Kort, for a romp in the field.   A good time was had by all and Chip was the master ball retriever.

Our next show is in Kalamazoo, Memorial day weekend.   Stay tuned for times in case you want to come and see us.

Show time!!

This weekend is Chip's debut at the Birch Run MI dog show.   I'll be showing both Chip and Rizzo and our time slot is 10 a.m. in ring 4 this Saturday (4-5-14).   Sunday we show at 8 a.m......ugh!   A friend of our made this nifty stacking box for them to practice their stance.    It should be fun and maybe even funny to watch Chip, so feel free to stop in if you are in the area.

Show dogs.....

Hello from the gang!  From left to right, Brinkley, Hailey, Chip, Rizzo and B'Nellie!!

I'm sorry to see that it's been so long since I've updated my page here!   I decided to start showing Rizzo last year about this time and see if it was something I could do, number one, and something that we both enjoyed, number two.    The answer to both of those things is yes and yes.   Our wild and crazy little girl is completely different in the show ring atmosphere and does quite well and makes us proud.    She now has 5 points towards her championship I am surprised at how much fun we are having.   What's important to me is doing this with her as a team.   Not hiring professional handler's to take her around and get her CH in front of her name.  It just makes it all that much more rewarding in my opinion.

Last month I started working with Chip so I can take him to some shows too.   We entered a practice match in Kalamazoo about a month ago and with only a few days practice before hand, Chip took 2nd in the sporting group.

Rizzo took first in the sporting group for her age bracket, and went on to take BEST IN SHOW!!  To say we were a bit excited might be an understatement!

Here she is with all the ribbons she won at the show in Novi, MI in January.

And they are both always at the ready to help me with my other hobby....

It's still going to be a while before we have puppies again, but it will be well worth the wait I'm sure.  In the meantime, I will try to be better about posting here.   You can always keep up with Rawley Point Kennel on Facebook too.
